War Games
Not just any war games
When you hear War Games and think of the 1080’s classic movie you may get all excited and start to reminisce about the past, but don’t jump on that too fast! When we say war games we are talking about something equally as fun, but something that is right here and now. Games based on war and battle strategy are exceptionally popular in today’s day and age. There are games like Halo and World of Warcraft buzzing about in our every day life, but you do not have to have a video game system to play these games. You have those and many, many more at your disposal on any computer with internet access.
A bit about the game
Every war game is different, but they are all the same as they are games that go through basic military operations or both real and made up scenarios. Wargaming, as it is called among gamers everywhere, is a hobby that many people have taken up over the past couple of years. There are 4 basic categories for war games. These are science fiction, fantasy, historical and hypothetical. Historical seem to be the most popular choice as it gives you more of a real feel seeing that it has actually happened. The second most popular would be the hypothetical games. These are based around fact, but some of the things that happen are made up in the game.
Sometimes fantasy and science fiction games are not considered to be war games because they are not real life or they never really occurred in any way, but they are considered to be war games because of the use of battle strategies and military forces. Each war game that has been created is basically a story in which you become a part in writing. Each game starts out with a prologue of what happened and how to fix it and it becomes your job to fix it.
Each game comes with a specific set of rules or guidelines. On one game the guidelines or goal may be to collect a certain number of something to make it to the next round. In some games it may be to rescue someone from the enemy. In most games now the task or challenge changes with every round you make it through. One thing that make war gaming so much more easy now is the checkpoint. It used to be that if you lose or die you have to go back to the beginning and start again, thus making it even more of a challenge an a lot more likely to give up on. With a checkpoint, when you die, you go back to your last achieved checkpoint.
Each game is rated so that you know what ages should and should not be playing them. With these ratings there is also a small bit about what content is in the game. This is great for parents so that they know what their child is getting into. One great way to know what your children are playing is to spend time playing with them. Then they don’t have the option to say you don’t know anything about the game and you can come up with a reasonable answer as to why they can or can not play the game.
Staying healthy
Playing war games is a fun pass time, but you want to make sure that you are keeping yourself physically and mentally healthy. This means getting up every half hour or so to take a stretch break and to walk away from the game all together. Gaming can take a toll on your eyes and body if done for too long without a proper break.
